Summer Institute

Summer Institute

The Summer Institute, taking place at UC Santa Barbara, is one of the major components of the CA HSI AGEP Alliance grant. It will launch the practice-based graduate student learning community and will allow students to foster relationships while learning pedagogical practices across campuses. The week and a half long program will have various components such panel discussion with CSU faculty, discussions pf pedagogical strategies and technologies, and discussion of topics in the literature of teaching and learning. Students will also have time to collaborate with their paired mentors on the CSU Mentorships they each will have in Fall 2019 at their respective CSU campuses.

Five major components of the pedagogical training include:

1. Translation of Research into the Undergraduate Curriculum

2. Assessment as Pedagogy

3. Interdiscplinary Teaching

4. Service-Learning and High Impact Practices

5. Diversity in Higher Education
